Inside Athena: Summit Common’s “Dedicated” Dir. of Housekeeping and Laundry
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Mariana Jean has called Summit Commons Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Providence home for three years.
Serving as the Director of Housekeeping and Laundry, the Dominican Republic native likes to ensure residents have a clean and safe environment to live in.
“It’s important because germs are everywhere. The more it’s clean, the less germs. That way the residents get well,” she said.
She finds enjoyment in cleaning the Rhode Island home. People will often note to her the cleanliness of the building. The team will also accommodate how they clean based on what that person wants. For example, if they want less cleaning product smell, the team will find ways to make sure the smell isn’t as strong. It’s the teamwork Jean notes about her staff and their relationships with the residents.
“We have good communication. If they think something is missing, they call me and I make sure I go and talk to them,” Jean said.
Lee Allaire, Summit Common’s Administrator, said Jean is very dedicated and supportive to her staff and, in return, they are supportive of her.
